Eternal life comes only from God through His Son Jesus Christ. Please know that God loves you and desires a personal relationship with you. The Father sent Jesus who was born, lived a sinless life, and fulfilled the requirements of the law by going to the cross to die that we may be forgiven of our sins and enter Heaven, if we believe...... The Book of Romans, these particular Scriptures often referred to as the Roman road, say the following:
Chapter 3 verse 23 says "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." This means that we ALL have sinned. Drug addicts, atheists, pastors, church-goers, ALL have had some kind of sin in their lives.
Chapter 6 verse 23 says "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." This means our sins 'earn' death and eternal separation from God. We must repent of our sins. Repent means to make a u-turn away from sin, and take a step of faith toward God.
Chapter 5 verse 8 says "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." God took the initiative for you and for me!
Chapter 10 verse 9 says "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." Note it says to believe and you shall, not hope to, or might, but SHALL be saved. Jesus is after your heart and that is where your belief and faith must be.
Chapter 10 verse 10 says "for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." We must confess Jesus before men. He promised if we do, then He will confess us before the Father.
Chapter 10 verses 11-13 say "for the Scripture says whomever believes in Him will not be disappointed. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who will call upon Him. For whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved." No one who accepts Jesus will ever regret it! Jesus doesn't care who you are, whether or not your daddy was a preacher or somebody else, what you have or have not done, or who you have done it with, for sin is sin. Jesus is willing to meet you where you are. If you believe, confess Him as Lord, and surrender control of your life and heart to Him, He will save your soul and begin a new work in you today! Heaven is waiting!
Stop and pray right now. Talk to God. Call or cry out to Him. This is personal and between you and Him!
To receive salvation, you could say a heart-felt prayer similar to this one. Again, this is between you and the Lord: Lord Jesus, I confess I am a sinner. I believe you are the Son of God. I believe that you died on the cross so I can receive forgiveness of my sins. I believe that you rose from the dead and conquered death, once for all. I may not understand everything but I come to you now by simple faith, surrendering my life to you, asking you to take control, forgive me of sin, and save my soul. I promise to live my life the best I can for you. In your name I pray. Amen.
Friend, if you prayed that prayer and truly meant it, the Scripture says you are saved. You are now a child of God, destined for Heaven, however you are just like a newborn.
2nd Corinthians 5:17 says "Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away, behold new things have come."
And just like a newborn that first needs milk, and then solid food, and of course nurturing, you need the same. That nurturing is done most effectively, as ordained of the Lord, in a local body of believers called the church. You now need to take the next step and find a Bible-based Church to belong, to grow in, and to be a part of the body.
